Artist, Gallery Owner

Lilla Ohrstrom lives in The Plains VA. Where, she is the owner of Youngblood Art Studio [YAS]. Lilla has a B.S. degree with a major in Sculpture from Skidmore College University without Walls. She is currently working towards her Masters degree in Art Therapy from George Washington University; to be completed in 2017. This evolution in her career reflects her fascination with humanity and our inner worlds. She believes that truth shows up in imagery and that there is healing in art making. She has studied at Parsons School of Design in Paris, Rhode Island School of Design, L’ecole des Arts Decorative in Strasbourg , France , The Corcoran school of Design in DC., and Virginia commonwealth university.. As a result of these studies, She works in a wide range of materials and cross disciplines such as ceramics, Cast bronze, jewelry making, mixed media, sculpture, painting and collage. She has studied privately under Felix de Weldon(Sculptor of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington County), Cyril Heck (American artist in Paris), and recently with Goshkin Carey ( Equine sculpture). Life in the country, riding horses and mothering four children have also influenced Lilla’s work. She contributes time to organizations that support, the arts, land conservation and special needs individuals. She has been a board member of George Mason and the Arts and is currently on the board of The land trust of Va. She is currently an intern at A Place To Be (expressive arts therapy in Middleburg). Her work is in many private collections, can be viewed at www.lillaohrstrom.com and is regularly on display at YAS. (Youngbloood Art Studio) She often supports local community events by sharing her work. She also teaches classes and displays works of other artists at YAS. Fall 2015 she is showing work at George Washington University art therapy gallery, the Dairy barn in Middleburg VA, Montpelier races, YAS and Tri-county feeds. The paintings of Jennifer Simms and the jewelry of Anita Whitney were displayed at Lilla Ohrstrom’ s Youngblood Art studio on October 10.
