About the Artist
Excepted from artist website
Monroe Isenberg is an artist originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate studies, Cum Laude and with honors, in Sculpture and Psychology at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon in 2013 where he experimented with wood and metal working and developed an abstract, minimalist aesthetic. After working as an artist and fabricator in Portland and refining his knowledge of materials and form, he moved to Washington, D.C to pursue his MFA at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, where he was the recipient of the coveted Dean’s Fellowship. His sculptures, created from reclaimed wood and steel, engage balance and tension to create conversations around the relationship between industry, the environment, and culture. Monroe has exhibited in Oregon, Minnesota, and Washington D.C. and his work can currently be seen at Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota. Monroe’s next solo exhibition will be on view at the Hillyer Gallery at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C in 2017. The exact dates are yet to be determined.
