C. White Plate

Pottery Seminar
Tuesdays, September 22 to November 10
(8 weeks)

Catherine White plans to lead a seminar about making pots, primarily on the wheel but handbuilt as well. These sessions are for anyone with an interest in making pottery. No experience is required, just a desire to give it a try, look carefully, and a willingness to learn. For those with experience making pottery, this is a class for getting rejuvenated and thinking more deeply about clay and its use.

These will be directed sessions that address both technique and aesthetics. Each evening will involve some hands-on clay time, demonstrations, and looking at images and examples of pots. Catherine likes to think of it as the poetry of pottery. Her goal is to impart the depth of the vocabulary of pottery that can be used to engender poetic forms for enhancing daily life.

Cost: $480
includes materials and glaze firing in her gas kiln (near Warrenton). You will need a few personal clay tools for which she will provide a list after signing up.

Please let her know if you have any questions and if you are interested. Call or email to sign up.
